Late-Pleistocene environments of the Laguna San Rafael area, Chile

Cronologies of late-Pleistocene’ events have established certain relationships in the Northern Hemisphere. Among these are corre- lation of the beginning and end of the Allerod in Denmark with the pre-Valders ice retreat and the Valders maximum (previously considered Mankato) in the United States Midwest;2 probable correlation of pollen zones between eastern North America and Europe;3 synchrony of late-glacial pollen zones in Britain, Denmark, northwestern Germany, and the Netherlands;4 and correlation of late-postglacial glacier variations between Norway, Iceland, Greenland, and western North America.
